Jayanagar is a premium BDA developed area in South . It was among the first few well-planned sectors of Bangalore. Though slowly getting commercialized, it primarily remains a residential area. The entire area of Jayanagar is divided into 10 blocks out of which, the 3rd and 4th blocks are commercial hubs and the remaining are residential areas. The development and growth of this locality and the presence of several IT/ITES firms make Jayanagar a real estate hot spot. It is surrounded by important areas such as Basavangudi, JP Nagar, Banashankari 2nd Stage, Gurappanapalya, Sadduguntepalya, Thilak Nagar and BTM Layout. 

Jayanagar Shopping Complex and Garuda Swagath Mall are two popular shopping zones in this locale. Jayanagar’s infrastructure doesn’t end at shopping malls, grocery stores, and entertainment outlets. There are a number of reputed schools, colleges and hospitals in the area too. While Jayanagar Orthopedic Hospital, Sanjay Gandhi Hospital and Nethradhama Eye Hospital cater to the residents’ health needs, RV Dental College, Oxford College, and Institute of Business Management and Research (IBMR) are some of the popular educational institutions in Jayanagar. Connectivity is a high point for the locality. The IV block Jayanagar bus stop is a major bus terminus, with BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses connecting this area to almost all the major points in the city including Majestic, KR Market, and Bangalore International Airport. The first thing anyone notices about traveling in Jayanagar is the wide and spacious roads. These roads are very well connected to the rest of the city, including the nearby Central Business District (CBD) areas such as M.G. Road, Residency Road, and Brigade Road. Jayanagar enjoys a central location in the heart of Bangalore. Main Road and Bannerghatta Road connect Jayanagar to major parts of the city. The airport is located approximately 10-12 kilometers from Jayanagar while the city railway station is about 8 kilometers away. In addition to well-built roads, the area also enjoys an excellent network of Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses. The main bus stand in the area is located in the 4th block and there is also a metro station coming up near the South End Circle.
