Bannerghatta Road

Originally called Anekal Road, Bannerghatta Road is one of the fastest growing localities in Bengaluru. Commonly known as BG Road, this road is located on the State Highway 87. It originates as it branches off from Hosur Road, and concludes at Anekal town, with the stretch lasting a distance of 49 km. Once a sleepy locality in the remote corner of Bengaluru, Bannerghatta Road has now become a hub for several software companies, renowned educational institutions, hospitals, theatres, malls, residential complexes, and apartments. Owing to these reasons among many others including infrastructural development, Bannerghatta Road has managed to attract a lot of people from different parts of the city. This in turn, has created a boom in the real estate sector. The locality has several reputed educational institutions, including Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) and Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing. It also hosts a few world-renowned hospitals like Fortis Hospital and Apollo Hospital to name a few.

Nagar, Jayanagar, BTM Layout, etc., which are excellent residential and commercial hotspots. The locality is connected to other major areas located nearby through specific roads. The NICE Road cuts Bannerghatta Road a little beyond Gottigere. The main junctions on this road are at Adugodi, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology, Sagar Hospital, Gurappanapalya, Dairy Circle, N. S. Palya, Bilekahalli, Bannerghatta Circle, Jigani Industrial Area and Koppa Gate. The Bengaluru International Airport is situated about 45 km away from Bannerghatta Road and is easily reachable by BMTC buses, BIAL buses, and cabs. The city’s major railway station, Bangalore City Railway Station, is located about 27 km away.
